Create Captivating Brand GIFs: A Step-by-Step Guide to Engage Your Audience

Adding personalised GIFs to your social media content is a fantastic way to engage with your audience, showcase your brand's personality, and boost brand awareness. If you've ever wondered how to create your own GIFs, look no further! In this blog post, I'll guide you through the simple process of making GIFs using Procreate's animation assist feature.

Getting Started with Procreate

Before diving into GIF creation, it's important to have a basic understanding of the Procreate app and where to find the necessary tools. If you're new to Procreate, I've created this helpful YouTube video guide to get you started.

Creating Animation Frames

GIFs are essentially short animations, and with Procreate's animation assist tool, you can easily turn your canvas layers into frames. By making small changes to your images in each frame, you can create the illusion of movement in your GIF. Procreate's animation assist makes it a breeze to preview and adjust your animation.

Fun GIF Ideas

To get you started, here are a few simple and enjoyable animation techniques you can try using animation assist with your logo, image, or some text:

  1. Flash: Import your text, image, or GIF onto your canvas. Create a new blank frame above or below your image; now when you play your GIF, your image will flash in and out.

  2. See-saw: For a see-saw effect, use two frames. In the first frame, rotate your image, text, or logo slightly to the left. In the second frame, rotate it slightly to the right. Adjust the frame rate to control the speed of your GIF's movement.

  3. Pop: Import your text, logo, or image into your Procreate canvas. Duplicate it to create a new frame, and then resize this frame to be slightly larger than the first. When you play your GIF, it will appear to pop in and out.

  4. Wobbly text: On a blank frame, handwrite a simple phrase or word. On a new frame, trace over your writing, making slight changes so they're not a perfect match. Repeat this process a few times to create variations. When you play your GIF, the text will appear to move and wobble.

Exporting Your GIF

Once you're satisfied with your GIFs, use Procreate's canvas tools to export and save your animation as an animated GIF. You can save them directly to your camera roll, iPad files, or transfer them to your desktop using AirDrop. To make your GIFs ready for use on Instagram stories or TikTok, upload them to GIPHY.comand add relevant keywords for search-ability.
