How to add custom Fonts to Procreate

Looking to add your own fonts, or fonts you have downloaded, to your Procreate designs? Importing custom fonts to the Procreate font library is actually very easy to do, and in this post, I’ll show you how!

Method 1: Share the Font from Your Files

1. Make sure the font or fonts you want to import into Procreate are downloaded and saved to your iCloud or iPad files; you cannot import fonts into Procreate that are not saved on your iPad (this seems obvious but is a mistake I see people make a lot!).

2. Open the file on your iPad where your fonts are saved. Select the font you wish to add to Procreate and tap to ‘open’ it. In the top right corner, tap the share button and then from the menu select to share to the Procreate app (don’t worry if it appears like nothing has happened, the font has imported in the background).

3. Open Procreate and on a new or existing canvas, open the canvas setting and select ‘add text’. Tap on the ‘Aa’ button on the right-hand side of the text menu and scroll through the font library on the left to find and select the font you imported.

Method 2: Import Fonts Inside Procreate

1. Make sure the font or fonts you want to import into Procreate are already downloaded and saved to your iCloud or iPad files; you cannot import fonts into Procreate that are not saved on your iPad (this seems obvious but is a mistake I see people make a lot!).

2. Open Procreate and on a new or existing canvas, open the canvas setting and select ‘add text’. Tap on the ‘Aa’ button on the right-hand side of the text menu and then select ‘Import Font’.

3. Browse your files to select the font file you wish to import and select it. Procreate will briefly show an importing screen and then return to the text tools. You should now be able to find your imported font in the font library on the left.
