5 Thoughts on Social Media at the End of 2024 🎄 Small Business Diaries
As we wrap up another year, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on social media, content creation, and how things have shifted for me as a creative. In this Vlogmas episode, I’m getting super chatty about Instagram, YouTube, creative block, burnout and finding joy in connection again. I also decorate the studio for the holidays and go on a mission to find some Lebenkuchen (German gingerbread biscuits).
So, grab your favourite festive drink, and let’s chat—it’s time for some small business real talk. ☕💖

5 Thoughts on Social Media at the End of 2024
1. Authenticity Over Perfection
This year, I realized how much pressure I was putting on myself to post “perfect” content, especially on Instagram. I had all these imaginary rules about what I could or couldn’t share, and it honestly held me back. I stopped posting altogether because I was so worried about losing followers if I switched things up. But here’s the truth: I lost followers anyway, and my engagement took a massive hit because I wasn’t posting anything! 🙈 In 2025 I want to give myself permission to experiment more and just post what feels right!
2. The Freedom of YouTube
YouTube is still a new-ish space for me, so I’ve felt free to experiment and just have fun. Sharing longer-form content and seeing the little community growing there has reminded me why I love creating in the first place. It’s not about perfection or going viral—it’s about connection. 💕
3. Creative Blocks Happen (and it’s okay)
Mid-year, I hit a massive creative block that really knocked my confidence. Looking back, I can see that the pressure I felt was all in my own head. Letting go of those made-up rules and fears has been so freeing. Creativity ebbs and flows, and that’s okay. I’m learning to ride the waves without being so hard on myself.
4. The Craving for Long-Form Content
Fast-paced Reels and TikToks are fun, but I feel like people (myself included!) are starting to crave longer, deeper content. Something you can really sink your teeth into, you know? It’s the kind of content I love to watch, and it’s what I’m feeling drawn to create right now. I’m so excited to lean into this more in 2025. 🌟
5. Community Over Numbers
This year has been a big reminder that it’s not about how many followers or likes you have—it’s about the connections you make. Seeing the little community growing on YouTube has been such a joy, and it’s a vibe I want to bring to all my platforms. Let’s focus on the people who get it and build something meaningful together. 💖
